ATTENTION ADVISORS!: New Course Offerings in Phys Ed Slated for Fall 2003


Following are new course offerings in physical education that will be available for the fall 2003 semester:

PEC-148-024 (MWF 12:00 - 12:50 PM) Cardio Bootcamp - A new fitness class designed to physically challenge the participant by challenging the aerobic and strength systems of the human body. Traditional calisthenics, free weights and aerobics done in a boot camp atmosphere, featuring one minute intervals alternating weights and aerobic activity, performed to music. A fun and challenging class. Instruction will also include education and assessment of participants resting heart rate, target heart rate, blood pressure, nutrition, body fat testing and personal fitness goals.

PEC-148-022 (MWF 9:00 – 9:50 AM) Taekwando - This course will take any level of student (from novice to black belt) and teach them the forms, and sparring. This course will be taught by Master Kim, a five-time U.S. national champion. This high energy class will be held in the dance studio and will be an excellent learning environment with an outstanding teacher.

Relatively New Courses-

PEC-123-101(TR 12:30 - 1:50 PM) Introduction to Kayaking - Have you always wanted to learn the basic techniques of kayaking but never took the time? Or you figured that the cost would be outrageous? Well, you can learn how to kayak, including stroke work, water exits, and basic rescue techniques all in the safety confines of the MCC pool. Your instructor into the joys and fun of kayaking is Anne Flatley, a certified ACA open water instructor.

PEC-148-023 (TR 9:30 - 10:50AM) Personal Defense - This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep themselves physically safe.  Through enhanced physical fitness, increased safety awareness and acquired defensive techniques, students will improve their sense of personal safety and self confidence in a wide variety of situations. Your instructor for this course is Bill Brewer.
