News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Board Room on the Brighton Campus on Monday, June 13 and took the following actions:

1. Approved the Consent Calendar, containing past meeting minutes, operating disbursements, personnel appointments, compensation, appointments, promotions, separations from service and Faculty Senate proposals.

2. Accepted interim financial reports as of March 31 and April 30, 2011.

3. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 for the months of March and April, 2011.

4. Approved the schedule of tuition for the fiscal year September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012. The full-time rate increases $60 to $3,060 and the part-time rate increases $3 to $128.

5. Approved the operating budget for the fiscal year September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012 in the amount of $123,780,000.

6. Authorized Richard F. Mackey, Chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee, or Kenneth G. Goode, Chair of the Board of Trustees, to approve budget transfers on behalf of the Board of Trustees through the end of the budget year, August 31, 2011.

7. Authorized the transfer of funds among various accounts.

8. Approved an associate in science degree in Sport Management, subject to the approval of the State University of New York.

9. Approved the appointment of E. Jamall Watkins, counselor, as interim assistant director, Counseling and Advising Center.

10. Approved the appointment of Charlotte Downing as dean, Curriculum and Program Development, effective September 1, 2011.

11. Approved the retirement of Carol Adams, dean, Interdisciplinary Programs, effective September 1, 2011, in accordance with the benefits approved for non-contract employees.

12. Approved the retirement of Bonnie Connell, Mathematics; Richard Connett, Biology; Sharon Dobkin, Psychology; and Kathy Lawton, Biology in accordance with Article 27 of the contractual agreement between MCC and the Faculty Association.

13. Honored Student Trustee Eddie Visagie for his service on the Board of Trustees.

14. Honored the women’s lacrosse team for their 2011 National Junior College Athletic Association championship.

15. Honored Dr. Stuart Steiner, president of Genesee Community College, on the occasion of his retirement.

16. Honored Nancy Price, executive secretary to the president and secretary to the Board of Trustees, on the occasion of her retirement.

17. Conducted an executive session pursuant to Public Officers Law Section 105, subsections f and h.

The Board heard a presentation by Todd Oldham, vice president of economic development and innovative workforce services, regarding his newly formed division and his vision for it.
