Four to be Inducted into Sports Hall of Fame

Three former All-Americans and a long-time math professor will be inducted into the MCC Sports Hall of Fame this fall.

Urska Ros (women’s swimming and diving), Tanesha James (women’s basketball), Eric Pritchard (men’s lacrosse), and William M. Setek Jr. (special awards category) will be honored at MCC’s Hall of Fame banquet on Sept. 24.

Ros (Class of 2003) was a record-breaking swimmer who was a five-time national champion for the Tribune swim team.  Her time of 55.41 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly at the 2003 national meet is still a record.  Ros also won 14 Region III championships at MCC.

James (Class of 1998) was a two-time All-American point guard for the Lady Tribunes, helping lead Monroe to a 57-8 record and a pair of national tournament appearances.  She averaged close to 19 points per game during her MCC career.

Pritchard (Class of 2005) is the first lacrosse player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.  The program’s all-time leading scorer with 108 goals and 95 assists, he was a two-time All-American and was the first Tribune player to have consecutive 100-point seasons.

Setek, a full-time professor in the mathematics department from 1967-1999, facilitated the MCC Sports Card Show for 22 years. The card show helped raise funds for the baseball team’s annual spring trip.  He also aided countless student-athletes through tutoring and counseling.

The banquet will start at 6 p.m.  For tickets and information, call the MCC Athletics Department at 585-292-2830.
