“So You Think You Can Quote”
If you think the art of quoting in a paper is just throwing some quotation marks around another author’s words, think again!  This workshop lesson will focus on teaching the skill of effective quotation.  If you come to this workshop, the mystery of the quotation will be unraveled.  You will learn the answers to the baffling quotation questions that have long plagued you such as:  Why do I need to quote anything in the first place?  Where the heck do I put this period?  How can I quote something without unintentionally plagiarizing?

Academic Honesty
Come join the Writing Center for a short workshop to learn how to avoid the dreaded crime of plagiarism.  We will review some of the most common traps leading to inadvertent plagiarism (that is, cheating when writing a paper, even when you didn’t mean to) and practice the methods of avoiding the problems.  This workshop will briefly cover citation issues related to plagiarism, proper use of quotation marks, a little respect for private property, and temptations leading to plagiarized content.  Given that plagiarism is a violation of the MCC Code of Conduct, it should be well worth anyone’s time to be absolutely certain to avoid it, and we’ll show you how easy it is in this workshop.
