Gardens Growing More Popular

With the growing popularity of home gardens, Agricultural and Life Sciences Institute Director Bob King, Ph.D. continues to comment on the trend and encourage people to “Grow Monroe” through media interviews.

King was quoted in the May 20 Democrat and Chronicle article “Growing is big this year: Say-at-home families invest in their gardens,” by Ernst Lamothe Jr. In the article, King noted how many local garden centers have reported revenue increases as high as 50 percent. “ As more people are opting not to travel, they are using their homes and yards for entertainment,” said King.
