Audioconference -- "An Online Orientation to Online Learning"

Dr. Ivan Lach will describe and demonstrate Illinois Virtual Campus's Online Orientation Workshop and Online Student Resource Center. A faculty member facilitates the orientation workshop for prospective online learners using an online course format. The resource center contains orientation to online learning modules including: an online learning readiness survey, what it takes to be a successful online student, and tutorials in a variety of areas.
This presentation illustrates two different methods of providing orientation to online learning to prospective students who live at a distance and cannot come to orientation programs on campus. The presentation will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Participants can apply these features to their orientation programs.
Ivan J. Lach, Ph.D. is the associate director of the Illinois Virtual Campus. He has been with the Illinois Virtual Campus since its inception in 1998. Prior to 1998, Ivan was the vice president of the Illinois Community College System.
