Faculty Senate Bylaws Amendment Proposal for Faculty Review

The Nominations, Elections, and Governance (NEG) Committee of the Faculty Senate is pleased to present to the College community its proposal to revise Article X, Section 5 (Amendments) of the current Faculty Senate Bylaws.  Attached is the original wording of this section, along with the proposed new wording and a summary of the rationale for these changes.

The NEG hosted open forums on December 7, 2015 at the Brighton and Damon City campuses, and received substantive feedback from attendees that resulted in the new language now being presented to the faculty at large for their supporting vote.  Questions about any of the appended documents, or on the process followed that generated the proposal, can be directed to Michael Heel, NEG chair (mheel@monroecc.edu <mailto:mheel@monroecc.edu> ).

Voting on this proposal is expected to commence on Monday, February 8, 2016.  Eligible voters will receive electronic ballots via email, and will have 10 working days (excluding the winter break week) to submit their votes.  As any proposed changes to the bylaws requires 2/3 approval of those voting, we seek strong engagement from the community on this matter.
