I need your help in identify outstanding students who might benefit from and enjoy an Honors course or seminar. Over the next few days, I will place several Honors course applications listing our Fall 2011 offerings in your mailbox. Please distribute these applications to students you think have the curiosity, creativity, and academic talent necessary to succeed in Honors. Please keep in mind that all Honors courses are Writing Intensive, and can be quite demanding for under-prepared students and students that have not developed good study and work habits. Before distributing the applications, please complete the line marked Faculty/Staff recommendation.
Many of our finest students enter the program because of the encouragement they receive from you. As I’m sure you are aware, MCC is filled students who blossom academically because of the support and challenge that you provide.
Please consider also mentioning to your students that the Honors Institute will have an Open House on Monday, March 14th at Noon in the Flynn Campus Center Atrium. During the Open House faculty teaching Fall 2011 Honors courses and current Honors students will be available to answer questions about the Honors Institute.
