Alumni to Reunite at Original MCC Campus

In 1964, the U.S. Congress authorized the war in Vietnam. The Beatles’ “I want to hold your hand” topped the charts. Gas was only 30 cents a gallon. And the newly-founded Monroe Community College graduated its very first class.

MCC will honor members of its first graduating classes, the classes of the ’60s, with two special reunion events. The events are part of MCC’s Alumni Week and Homecoming 2009 celebration, Sept. 25 through Oct. 3 hosted by the Monroe Community College Foundation and the Campus Activities Board.

Classes of the ’60s Reception
5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30
410 Alexander St., Rochester
Parking will be available at the Auditorium Theatre; shuttle service will also be provided.
Tickets: $19.62 per person
Take a journey back in time and tour the historic building where MCC first opened its doors at 410 Alexander Street—where MCC first opened its doors! Share stories of the early days of MCC and reunite with the college’s first generation of alumni, faculty, and staff at this outdoor reception.

Classes of the ’60s Reunion Dinner
6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3
Strathallan Hotel, 550 East Avenue, Rochester
Tickets: $57 per person
Join Classes of the ’60s alumni, and the faculty who inspired them, at a gala dinner celebrating the 45th reunion of MCC’s first graduating class. Following dinner, dance to the memorable music of DJ Ernie Capone.

During both events, a special tribute will be paid to the pioneering members of the Class of ’64, who will be celebrating their 45th reunion. This group is unique, not only because they were MCC’s inaugural class, but because many of its members have stayed in touch for almost half a century.
