Welcome Nicole Tatum, STEP Advisor

Join me in welcoming Nicole Tatum as the new Advisor in the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP).

Nicole Tatum returned to pursue a second career in Electrical Engineering at Monroe Community College after obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in History and Government and teaching middle school students in the Tuscaloosa City School District in the state of Alabama.  While at MCC, Nicole enrolled in CSTEP.  While in CSTEP, Nicole participated in research at other universities, served as a tutor to her peers, attended professional conferences, and completed an engineering related internship.  Upon completion of her BS in Electrical Engineering at SUNY Albany, Nicole continued to give back to her community through her service of engaging inner city youth in math activities.  In summer 2014, Nicole served as a teacher in MCC STEP where she worked with 24 students to increase their math skills through interactive projects.

Nicole will be primarily located at the middle and high schools with some office hours at the Brighton Campus.  Her office at MCC is located at the Natural Sciences Education Center (NSEC) together with the CSTEP staff.  Nicole’s office is 9-143E, phone number is 292-3187 and email address is "
mailto:ntatum001@monroecc.edu".  Feel free reach out to Nicole and welcome her to MCC.

STEP is funded through a legislative grant from the New York State Education Department.  Its mission is to increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students prepared to enter college, and improve their participation rate in mathematics, science, technology, health related fields and the licensed professions.
