NYS DOT Schedules Hearing on East Henrietta Road Reconstruction Project

The Public Information Office of the New York State Department of Transportation asked us to pass this announcement on to the MCC college community. It is in regard to an upcoming public hearing on the reconstruction of East Henrietta Road.

NOTICE OF TRANSPORTATION PUBLIC HEARING:

EAST HENRIETTA RD. (ROUTE 15A) HIGHWAY RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Towns of Brighton and Henrietta, Monroe County

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public hearing to present the proposed project to reconstruct State Route 15A (East Henrietta Road) from Jarley Road to Interstate 390 in the towns of Brighton and Henrietta, Monroe County.   The meeting will be held at Monroe Community College, Building 3 (R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center) Room Monroe B located at 1000 East Henrietta Road on March 30, 2006, at 7:30pm. (Go to "https://www.dot.state.ny.us/whatsnew.html"www.dot.state.ny.us/whatsnew.html for a location map or see attached.)

An open forum will be held from 3-5pm and from 6-7:30pm.  Displays and information tables will be staffed by the project team who will be available to answer individual questions.  During the open forum, only written comments will be accepted for inclusion into the official public record.  In addition, a formal hearing will begin at 7:30pm where individuals may make oral comments for the public record.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public, motorists, neighbors, local business owners, and elected officials with the proposed project alternatives and to give the public an opportunity to review and comment on potential impacts or to ask questions.

The proposed work for this project involves the reconstruction of Route 15A to restore the pavement and improve traffic flow through the corridor between Jarley Road and I-390.  The proposed alternative will reconstruct and widen highway shoulders. A short section of Route 15A south of the Crittendon Road intersection will be widened to provide additional storage and reduce the potential for accidents by lengthening turn lanes. The northern driveway to Monroe Community College (MCC) will be consolidated with the existing entrance at White Spruce Blvd. with a new traffic signal. In addition, a new ramp will be constructed connecting Route 15A to Clay Road towards the west near the Brighton-Henrietta Town Line Road intersection. Slight modifications will also be made to the existing ramp from Route 15A to Town Line Road to improve traffic flow.  Sidewalks will be constructed throughout the length of the project on Route 15A and provisions for bicycles are also proposed.

Further information on the project may be obtained from Howard Ressel, project design engineer, 1530 Jefferson Road, Rochester, NY, 14623 or at (585) 272-3372. If a sign language interpreter, assistive listening system or any other accommodations will be required to facilitate participation in this public hearing, please contact Howard Ressel at the above address.
