Team Selected for Regional Retain the Brains Competition

Congratulations to MCC Students Sandra Chaparro, Lomax Campbell, Steven Prince, Wayne Ramsdell and Eric Franklin, members of team Roc Solid, who will represent Monroe Community College in the regional Retain the Brains Marketing Plan Competition in Downtown Rochester on April 14. The competition is encourages area college students to develop marketing plans designed to attract 18-28 year old men and women to live and work in Greater Rochester after graduation.

The students are members of Carmen Powers’ MAR 204 class and this marks the second year that Powers’ students have participated. At the internal competition, hosted on April 2 in the Flynn Campus Center, seven student teams competed for the chance to represent MCC at the regional competition.

Teams presented original marketing plans to three guest judges, including Mike Johansson, editor, Rochester insider magazine; Shona Ranson, president, Greater Rochester Jaycees; and Jeff Viney, owner, Scavengerhuntz.com. The judges provided feedback regarding the teams’ written plans and presentations.

The annual contest is sponsored by a host of community organizations, including Greater Rochester Visitors’ Association, Rochester Young Professionals and the Rochester Business Alliance.
