Homeland Security and the Community College: A Vibrant Present and Vital Future

Two summits this year opened a dialogue about the role of community colleges in Homeland Security. What emerged was the clear call for community colleges to step to the forefront with continued and unified training standards and a truly national system for Homeland Security.

President Flynn co-authored an essay about the results of the summits and the forecast for the future of Homeland Security in July’s extended Leadership Abstracts; his co-authors are Mark David Milliron, President and CEO of the League for Innovation in the Community College; Gerardo E. de los Santos, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the League for Innovation; and Cindy L. Miles, Vice President of Learning and Academic Affairs at the Community College of Denver and a Senior Consultant for the League for Innovation in the Community College.
