Summer Institute for Faculty:  Integrating Courses for High Impact Learning Communities

Full-time and adjunct faculty from across the disciplines are invited to apply for the Summer Institute for Faculty:  Integrating Courses for High Impact Learning Communities, sponsored by the Teaching & Creativity Center and Title III: Building a Culture of Engagement and Success.  The Institute will be hosted on MCC’s Brighton Campus, August 11-13, 2015.

The Learning Communities Institute utilizes the Teaching & Creativity Center’s structure for multi-day faculty institutes, which we launched in 2014 with the 5-day STEM/Applied STEM Institute for Faculty: Course Redesign for Active & Collaborative Learning.  The Learning Communities Institute will include the following components over three days (August 11-13):

(1)    presentations of theory and evidence to demonstrate best practices in teaching learning communities;

(2)    work time for each pair of faculty to begin integrating material from their courses and to design integrated course projects;

(3)    consultation time with faculty coaches who have experience teaching in learning  communities at MCC.

(4)    action planning so that each pair of faculty leave the Institute with a concrete plan of work to accomplish between the end of the Institute and the start of the Fall semester, and during each week of their Fall    Learning Community.

Applications are due Wednesday, February 25th.  Please visit the TCC website for the Institute brochure and application form: https://web.monroecc.edu/tcc/
