CSTEP Students Selected to Present at a National Conference

Two CSTEP students, Akil David (LA05) and Sando Dickinson (LA05) have been selected to present their research poster at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) held in Austin, TX, November 7-10, 2007.  The selection process was based on the quality of the abstracts submitted.

Now in its seventh year, ABRCMS is the largest, professional conference for biomedical students attracting approximately 2,600 individuals.  During the three-day conference, 1,000 students participate in poster and oral presentations in nine sub disciplines in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

Akil and Sando participated in a Research Undergraduate Experience this past summer at Binghamton University through Binghamton University's National Institutes of Health Bridges to Baccalaureate program.  The MCC CSTEP and Binghamton University BRIDGES collaborate to increase the number of underrepresented individuals in the biomedical related fields.

A big "thank you" to Ron Schumacher (CSTEP Advisor) for obtaining travel scholarships for Akil and Sando!
