A Busy Spring 2016 for Mentors in Violence Prevention at MCC

On March 18th, Mentors in Violence Prevention at MCC (MVP-MCC) graduated 21 newly credentialed mentors who completed our three-day Train the Trainers program.  These new mentors include current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employees from Wegmans and St. John Fisher College.  They join over 250 others who have learned effective bystander intervention techniques to empower them to act to prevent harassment, bullying and potential violence.  MCC is the only community college to have this program, which exceeds Title IX standards for sexual assault prevention.  Our picture and information sheet are attached, so please congratulate anyone you may recognize!

Also, please see the attached information regarding our full-year MVP in ACTION Scholarship, generously funded by the MCC Foundation.  The deadline for applications is Friday, April 29, 2016.

Lastly, we will be hosting a Sociology Film Series screening of the documentary, The Hunting Ground, on Tuesday, April 26 at 3:00pm in 8-200 on the Brighton Campus.  A representative from RESTORE Sexual Assault Services will join Susan Bender - VaPA, Bethany Gizzi - AHPS, Joe Sturnick - Law & CRJ and me for a post-film discussion.  Please share the attached flier and plan to come to this important event?
