El Salvador: Observations by an Elections Observer

MCC graduate Sarah Lucas was, in March of this year, invited to participate as an international elections observer during the recent presidential election cycle in El Salvador, Central America. Sarah began her career in foreign languages here at MCC, and has since decided to specialize in International Relations and Latin American Studies, in preparation for a career in which she can use her skills and knowledge throughout the world.

Join us for Sarah’s presentation in which she will provide details of her preparation for the role she was to play in El Salvador, and her “on-the-ground” observations on the political process, the cultural ambience in which she worked and the nature of moving up from local New York State student to member of an international delegation.

Feel free to come for the college hour portion of the program. We have reserved two hours in order to allow Sarah time to fully explain her ideas, and for a substantive question-answer period for those who so desire.

This presentation would be appropriate to offer as an extra-credit opportunity for students in Foreign Language, Sociology, History and Political Science.

Wednesday, April 29, starting at 12:00 noon, in room 8-300
