ALL USA ACADEMIC TEAM Requirements and Eligibility

The All USA Academic Team is sponsored by USA TODAY, the American Association of Community Colleges, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  The purpose of this program is to recognize scholarly achievements of students enrolled in community, technical and junior colleges.  For the purpose of this award, “scholar” is defined as one who excels in the classroom; who has the intellectual curiosity to pursue academic, career, and cultural enrichment outside the traditional classroom; who shows evidence of substantial development of talents in academic and technical education; and who has demonstrated an ability to share this development with others.   

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Be currently enrolled in Monroe Community College.

Must be on track to earn an associates degree.  Students need to have a minimum of 45 semester college-level credits at a community college by December 31, 2006, with the intent to have a minimum of 53 semester college-level credits at a community college by August 31, 2007.  Students must have a minimum of 30 semester college-level credit hours completed in the last five years.

Have a cumulative 3.25 GPA out of a possible 4.0 in all college credit coursework completed in the last five years.

BENEFITS:

$2,500.00 stipend, commemorative trophy, and a medallion to each First team member.

1st Team All New York Academic Team members receive FREE tuition to a SUNY University.

Students may pick up ALL USA Academic Team applications, available beginning October 9th from Jodi Oriel in the Brighton Campus Center, building 3 room 126 or from Susan Spinetti in the Damon City Campus Center, 4-020.
