Strengthening Leadership for a Diverse Campus Environment

Colleagues,

Thanks to a grant from the MCC Diversity Council, you are invited to attend “Strengthening Leadership for a Diverse Campus Environment,”  a workshop facilitated by the Rochester chapter of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI).  (More information about NCBI can be found at <<
https://www.ncbirochester.org>>).

We will offer two full-day workshops, to be held on March 27  and May 1, 8:45 am-4 pm, in the DCC Community Room.  The workshops will be the same, and you may choose one or the other to attend.  Refreshments, including lunch, will be provided.

Workshop capacity each day is limited, so please RSVP early to ensure a space!  RSVP to me, <<
mailto:jwhite@monroecc.edu>>, by March 19 for the March 27 workshop, and by April 21 for the May 1 workshop

Here is a description of the workshop:

Strengthening Leadership for a Diverse Campus Environment

Extending civility, respect, and inclusiveness in a complex world depends on our ability to thrive while navigating the cultural landscapes of language, behavior, beliefs, and values, regardless of our own cultural, professional, economic, and social identities.

This workshop will explore these questions:  How do we recognize, value, and support the diverse perspectives of our workforce?  What factors lead to open communication with the best interests of everyone at heart?  How do we move forward together with so many issues, nuances, and feelings at play between us and the person(s) we see as ‘other’?  How do we take leadership in creating safe and welcoming environments where every voice is heard?

This workshop will specifically address the Damon City Campus community, but is open to all. Faculty and staff are warmly encouraged to take advantage of this internationally-recognized program for building upon human capital through professional and leadership development focusing on inclusion and effective communication.  In addition, SEGA (Student Events and Governance Association) leaders will also be participating.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!  I hope to see you there!
