Update your 2011 Tax Allowances Electronically

Now that you have filed your tax return for the 2010 year you may want to re-evaluate your current tax exemptions.  Did you receive a large refund or pay a large sum when filing your return? Did you know that in addition to your exemptions you can select a flat dollar amount to be added every pay to insure that you have enough taxes deducted for the year?  Have you recently married, divorced or added a dependent?  If any of these situations apply to you, you may want to update your tax forms.

You may not have been aware that you could update your tax exemptions for Federal tax via Banner Self-Service.  A more recent update to Banner Self-Service will now allow you to update your New York State Tax via Banner Self-Service as well.  All you need to do is go to Banner Self-Service/Employee/Tax Forms/W4 Tax Exemptions or Allowances.  The form will show both your current Federal and State tax exemption status.   The bottom of each tax form will have “Update” capability.  Make any change to exemption status, number of allowances or add an additional flat dollar amount then Certify Changes at the bottom of the form. Your taxes will automatically be updated the following payday.
