Callan and Pares-Kane attend conference in Hiroshima, Japan


Patrick Callan of the English/Philosophy Department and Nayda Pares-Kane of Sociology attended the conference, "Reconsidering Hiroshima and Nagasaki" held June 24-27 in Hiroshima, Japan. Pares-Kane and Callan studied at the conference sponsored by the Japan Studies Association held at the Hiroshima Peace Institute and adjoining Peace Memorial Museum. Forty selected professors from two- and four-year colleges shared approaches to understanding and teaching about the Hiroshima bombing, causal events, and post-war responses. Callan and Pares-Kane's new Honors course IDC 295 Asian-American Culture and Literature will debut this Fall semester 2003.
