Men's swimmer Kazuma Uda (Fukuoka, Japan/Sagagakuen) capped a stellar career at MCC with a national title at the NJCAA Swimming and Diving championships at Erie Community College over the weekend.
Uda, a sophomore, placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:08.08. He was down a half-body length in the final 50 yards but overcame Indian River CC's Daniel Munoz for the win.
The victory was a breakthrough for Uda, who had five total second-place finishes at nationals the last two years. He finished runner-up in the 200 IM (1:53.86) and the 400 IM (4:06.73) this weekend.
