New Degree Program Gains Media Coverage
MCC's Child Care Practitioner A.A.S. degree program, which will be offered in the fall, received TV, radio and newspaper coverage this week.
The program prepares individuals for careers working with diverse children up to age 8 in various early care settings. Students also complete 180 hours of field work in a licensed child care center or Head Start facility, enabling them to gain experience in the multiple roles of a child care worker. Classes are being offered at MCC's Brighton and Downtown campuses, and some courses are available online.
Lena Shiao, associate professor of education at MCC, was interviewed for an article in Thursday's Democrat and Chronicle:
13WHAM News, News 8 and News Radio WHAM 1180 also reported on it.
