Next Skunk Hour to Feature Leuzzi

On Friday, March 30, Tony Leuzzi will be the featured reader at Skunk Hour: A Creative Reading Series, sponsored by the English/Philosophy Department, in conjunction with the Creative Arts Committee. His reading, which will take place from noon-12:50 pm, in Room 8-200, is called "Purse Tongue and Other Blogging Rites" and will comprise a number of short essays that were originally conceived as blogs written last year.

Unlike his poetry, which tends towards indirection, these essays are forthright, chatty, and often humorous in tone. They examine various aspects of popular culture, filtered through the sensibility of a literate gay man in his mid-thirties. The subjects range from the strange power of dreams, to a lifelong crush on Charles Shultz's Schroeder, to a telling travelogue of his three-week stay in Jerusalem last year.

Leuzzi, along with Barbara Lovenheim, originated Skunk Hour in 1998. After heading the project for four years, they handed it over to their colleagues Doug Brooks and Phil Snyder, both of whom have kept the series alive and well.
