Channel 10's Coverage of "Stand Against Racism" Rally at MCC

News10 NBC’s coverage of  YWCA’s nationwide “Stand Against Racism” initiative on Friday showed dozens of MCC students and faculty taking part in a rally in front of the Brighton Campus along East Henrietta Road. The participants, holding posters, were taking a stand against oppression and intolerance and celebrating the richness of human diversity. The report contained interviews of two MCC student participants, Samantha Tunney and Joseph Bennett, and faculty member Tokeya Graham.

Before the rally, more than 100 people attended a panel discussion on the Brighton Campus addressing individual racism and racial bigotry, educational and housing inequality, and cultural racism. The “Racism Without Racists” panel discussion featured Natasha Christensen, sociology instructor; Dina Giovanelli, sociology instructor; and Tokeya Graham, English instructor. Many thanks to the three faculty members for organizing both events.
