Peace Corps presentation

Are you or your students interested in the Peace Corps? You and they can learn more about Peace Corps service from the experiences of three Rochester-area residents, NTID Prof. John Albertini, Mrs. Evva Spencer, and MCC Prof. Larry Berking, on Monday, November 17, during College Hour (12:00 noon-12:50 PM) in 6-335. This panel presentation is one in a series of MCC Study Abroad Workshops to be held on Monday, November 17, and Wednesday, November 19, during College Hour on the third and fourth floors of building 6.

The Peace Corps is a U.S. federal agency which traces its roots and mission to 1961, when then-Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. Since then, more than 170,000 Peace Corps volunteers have served in 136 host countries in such areas as information technology, business development, HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and bringing clean water to developing communities. The Peace Corps continues to meet its mission of helping the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women; helping promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served; and helping promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of all Americans.
