Yom Hashoah is also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day. "Shoah,"
which means catastrophe or utter destruction in Hebrew, refers to the
atrocities that were committed against the Jewish people during World
War II. This is a memorial day for those who died in the Shoah.

The commemoration features opening and closing ceremonies, testimonies of local Holocaust survivors, reading of survivor names, photo essay, and candle lighting.
In 2006, over 800 MCC students, faculty and community members remembered victims and survivors of the Holocaust together at MCC.
