Introduction to Medical Laboratory Technology

This course introduces the student to careers in the clinical laboratory. Topics include the role of the clinical laboratory personnel in the healthcare industry, the regulation of the laboratory, an overview of the patient specimen testing, the importance of continuing education, an introduction to laboratory quality assurance, professionalism and customer service. Details of the clinical laboratory technician program are provided, and students explore learning methods that can improve success in the program. May be taken by non-majors. One class hours. 1 Credit.
