Academic Advisement

Welcome

Academic Advisement is a shared responsibility between professional staff, faculty, and students. Using Guided Pathways, an integrated advising approach, advisors assist students with the transition into college and throughout their time at MCC. Guided Pathways specify the student’s academic area of interest or degree program.

New, transfer and returning students are assigned a professional advisor as their primary contact for the upcoming semester’s course advisement. The designation is based on the student's chosen pathway.

During the first semester, an on-going faculty advisor will be assigned to students, again based on pathway. This advisor will be the student's point of contact for all academic advisement while they remain in their chosen pathway.

All accepted students who are new to MCC, (first semester in college or transferring here from another institution, excluding dual enrollment and non matriculated courses), should schedule an appointment with a professional advisor prior to registering for courses.

All accepted students who are returning after three or more semesters away from MCC should schedule an appointment with a professional advisor prior to registering for classes.

You can find your assigned advisor on your DegreeWorks worksheet.

Current students: Your on-going advisor is assigned based on your School and Pathway. If you have any questions or concerns, email the Schools @ MCC
