High-Demand Health Programs (Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Nursing & Radiologic Technology)
These programs traditionally generate more applications than can be accommodated.  The selection criteria, deadlines, admission requirements, prerequisites, and commonly asked questions about admission to these programs can be found in the brochure Health-Related Programs: Competitive Admission Information available from the Admissions Office, or click on the link to reach the pdf of the brochure.

Early Admissions
(Admissions prior to high school graduation)
Candidates must demonstrate strong academic preparation through the 11th grade and meet the course prerequisites for the particular program. They must also be recommended by their high school counselor, successfully complete a placement exam and complete an interview with an Admissions counselor.

Accelerated Degree
(Earn an Associate’s degree in one year - available in Business Administration, Communications, Liberal Arts)
Candidates should have a strong academic background (high school average of 90 or better) and have completed a college preparation program in high school. They must also be admitted to the College full time and attend summer, fall, spring, and summer. These students are encouraged to enroll in Honors and Writing Intensive courses.

2 + 2 Program
(Guaranteed admission for high school students to one of twenty 4-year colleges upon successful completion of an MCC degree)
The requirements are a high school average of 85 or better in a college preparation program and completion of specific program entrance requirements. These students are encouraged to enroll in Honors and Writing Intensive courses.

MCC Degree Programs
Candidates should have successfully completed specific program entrance requirements and successfully complete MCC’s placement exam.

Extended Option
(Admission with course conditions)
Candidates who lack either the specific requirements or need to strengthen their English or math skills can be admitted to selected programs with the condition that they take these prerequisites first. For many students this translates into a three-year plan to complete an Associate’s degree.

Transitional Studies
(Skill Building)
Candidates with a weak high school background and/or low placement test results build skills in reading, writing, math, and study skills. Once students have completed the necessary non-credit coursework and prerequisites they are eligible to make a program change into another MCC degree or certificate program.

GED Basic Skills Referral
(Non-high school graduates 18 years of age or older)
Candidates who are not high school graduates and do not score well on the MCC placement exam can prepare for the GED at MCC to build their academic skills.
