Admissions Checklist

Students are encouraged to apply early to MCC. You can use the following checklist to assist you in the admissions process. If you have any questions, contact the Admissions Office at (585) 292-2200.

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
Complete the Application for Admission or use the Online Application and submit along with the $20.00 application fee (non-refundable). If you are a currently enrolled high school student, you should bring the completed application to your high school guidance office. Your guidance office will attach your transcript, enclose additional comments, and mail the application to the Admissions Office.

HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT/GED
High school graduates must request an official high school transcript be sent directly to MCC. GED recipients must submit a copy of their GED Score Report.

COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT

Applicants should contact all previously attended colleges and request final, official academic transcripts to be forwarded directly to the Admissions Office.

ADMISSIONS INTERVIEW
Prospective students are welcome to meet with an admissions counselor who can answer any questions they may have (an admissions interview is not required). If you need more information before applying, please call (585) 292-2200 to schedule an appointment.

PLACEMENT TESTING
Placement testing is required of all newly admitted students. High school graduates who have completed college-level English and math, or high school Regents equivalent English and Math Course III within the past three years, or students scoring a minimum of 500 on verbal and math portions of the SAT, may request the placement exam be waived. For placement testing information, call (585) 292- 2290.

FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid applications are available through the Financial Aid Office. The FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid) should be completed as soon as possible. DO NOT WAIT to be admitted to the College to begin the financial aid application process. Students are encouraged to file electronically at the College or over the World Wide Web. If you have questions about financial aid, call the Financial Aid Office: (585) 292-2050.

IMMUNIZATION RECORDS
New York State Public Health Law 2165 requires college students who were born January 1, 1957, or later to provide proof of immunization to measles, mumps and rubella (MMR). Official documentation should be brought or mailed to the Health Services Department.

BURSAR (Student Accounts)
General information regarding payment options, residency requirements, tuition due date and a financial aid refund schedule is available by calling the Bursars Office information line at (585) 292-2015

SELECTING A PROGRAM
MCC has over 60 different degree and certificate programs: Our Associate in Arts (A.A.) and Associate in Science (A.S.) degree programs are designed to give you the first two years of a bachelor's degree. If you intend to transfer to a four-year college or university, you will be best prepared with these programs. An Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program is designed to prepare you for a career immediately after you graduate from MCC. Generally, students in A.A.S. programs are trained at the technician level, though many A.A.S. graduates transfer to complete a bachelors degree. MCC also offers Certificate programs that take one to two years to complete. If you want to update your skills or quickly acquire new ones for a particular field, you should investigate our Certificate programs.

2+2 COOPERATIVE PROGRAMS
With one application, you can be accepted at MCC and one of the four-year colleges and universities listed on the "2 + 2" Degree Programs web page.
"2 + 2" Degree Programs are cooperative programs of study offered by Monroe Community College and 22 four-year colleges. Students admitted to these programs will, upon completion of a prescribed sequence of courses leading to an associate's degree, be assured transfer admission with full junior status.

"2 + 2" programs are generally not appropriate if you plan to attend on a part-time and/or evening basis and take longer than two years to complete your degree.
