Admission Process

Students interested in pursuing a degree or certificate at Monroe Community College should apply to a particular program through the Admissions Office and should meet all entrance requirements for that program.

How to Apply:

  1. Complete the Application for Admission
  2. Submit the $20 application fee
  3. Submit transcripts:
    • high school
    • college (if applicable)
    • SAT/ACT scores
    • IB exam scores
  4. Complete placement testing (Accuplacer), if required
  5. Provide immunization records (MMR vaccine) to college health office

The results of standardized tests, such as the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), assist the Admissions Committee in admissions decisions but are not a requirement for admission. These tests are also considered when identifying which students need to take the placement test. Students need to meet one or more of the following criteria, to be waived from the Accuplacer placement test at MCC:

  • Receive a 500 on the Verbal portion of the SAT, or a 21 on the English portion of the ACT, and have completed the English 11 regents exam with a 75 or higher and be a high school graduate
  • Receive a 500 on the Math portion of the SAT, or a 21 on the Math portion of the ACT, and have completed the Math A and B exams with a 75 or higher and be a high school graduate

When to Apply:

The Admissions Office accepts applications on a rolling admission basis. However it is advisable to apply early so that you can be accepted and registered early.

Certain programs, such as Automotive Technology, Dental Hygiene, Radiologic Technology, Interior Design, and Nursing, normally fill early in the application year (December). Applicants to these programs are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office to discuss application deadline dates and prerequisites.

Interviews:

Interviews are encouraged for students who have questions or wish to discuss their plans with a counselor, but are not required.
