MCC advances to World Series
WARWICK, RI - Ronnie Stout (Medina, OH/Medina) tossed a complete game as MCC defeated Community College of Rhode Island 7-2 to win the East District and advance to the Division II World Series.
The Tribunes will travel to Enid, Okla. for the national tournament, May 23-29.
CCRI won game one 8-4 before MCC rebounded to take the nightcap and capture the double elimination tournament. Stout was a big reason, as the freshman scattered seven hits and struck out six. He also contributed two hits and two RBIs at the plate.
Justin Urschel (Clarence, NY/Clarence) had two hits and two runs scored for MCC (27-17). Jordy Smola (Greece, NY/Greece Odyssey) and Keith Geil (Gates, NY/Gates Chili) drove in two runs apiece.
Mike Tomeno (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) was 4-for-4 in game one. Taylor Harrington (Rumford, RI/Pendleton) added two hits and two RBIs.
