MCC splits with Alfred
ROCHESTER - The MCC baseball team split a doubleheader with conference rival Alfred State Saturday, winning the opener 8-3 before dropping the nightcap 4-2.
The Tribunes are 6-2 on the season.
Jason Beaumont improved to 3-0 on the mound in game one, allowing two earned runs and scattering four hits over five innings. The sophomore right-hander struck out four and walked none.
Brandon Philp had the hot bat in game one, drilling the team's first home run of the fall. He also had a double and finished with three RBIs.
Luis Diaz finished with two this and two runs batted in and Kevin Johnson also had two hits.
The Pioneers came back to claim game two. Keith Geil had two hits and Chase Grissom and Joe Polichetti each drove in a run.
