MCC split with Mercyhurst
NORTH EAST, PA - The MCC baseball team split a doubleheader with host Mercyhurst North East Friday afternoon. The Tribunes won the first game 13-1 before falling 4-1 in the nightcap.
MCC (24-11 overall, 1-1 Region III, Division II) scored 10 runs in the top of the first to break open game one. Nate Grabowski (Pennellville, NY/Phoenix) provided one of the biggest hits, a three-run triple.
Steve Forster (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) picked up his fourth win of the season, allowing one unearned run while striking out four over five innings.
Kaleb Cunningham (Canton, NY/Stockton) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Ryan Gleason (Auburn, NY/Auburn) added three hits and two runs scored. Steve Muoio (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) finished a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
Jamie Fitzgerald (Nepean, ON/Merivale) also had three hits for MCC, which had 17 altogether.
The Saints rebounded to take game two. Dan Kaplan (Rochester, NY/Penfield) went two for three to lead the offense, while Pat Corrigan (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) plated MCC's only run.
