Schiller, Cunningham named preseason All-Americans
The Tribunes are eighth in the preseason national poll.
ROCHESTER - A pair of sophomores have earned preseason All-American honors for the MCC Tribunes.
Pitcher Tom Schiller (Brighton, NY/Brighton) and shortstop Kaleb Cunningham (Canton, NY/Stockton) were named preseason All-Americans. Both players helped the Tribunes reach the NJCAA Division II World Series last year.
Schiller, a right-hander, went 5-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 2007. He struck out 37 batters in 33 1/3 innings. One of his biggest games came in the World Series, when he allowed no earned runs and three hits in 6 2/3 innings against Northwest Mississippi CC.
Cunningham tied for the team lead with a .433 batting average in '07. The switch-hitting infielder was second on the team with 71 hits and 50 runs scored and also stole nine bases. He also batted .400 at the World Series.
The Tribunes are ranked eighth in the preseason national poll.
