MCC nine sweeps Broome
ROCHESTER - The MCC baseball team swept a doubleheader Sunday, defeating visiting Broome CC 8-0 and 14-2.
Three Tribune pitchers combined for the shutout on game one. Tom Schiller (Brighton, NY/Brighton) picked up the win, tossing three scoreless frames and striking out five.
Nate Grabowski (Pennellville, NY/Phoenix) and Dan Kaplan (Rochester, NY/Penfield) had two hits and two RBIs apiece. Kaleb Cunningham (Canton, NY/Stockton) added two hits and two runs and Cory Brownsten (Lockport, NY/Lockport) had two hits and one run batted in.
In game two, the Tribunes scored five in the first inning and eight in the fourth to cruise to the win. Kaplan went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and Cunningham and Brownsten each went 3-for-5. Jeff Osler (Frankville, ON/St. Mary's) had two hits and two RBIs.
Steve Forster (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) picked up the win in relief for Monroe
MCC is 10-8 on the season.
