MCC nine sweeps Dundalk
BALTIMORE - The MCC baseball team continued its hot streak through Maryland, sweeping CCBC-Dundalk 7-3 and 3-0 in a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader.
The Tribunes improved to 20-9 with the victories. MCC has won 12 of its last 13 games.
The two teams were tied at three going into extra innings in the opener. The Tribunes came through with four runs in the top of the eighth to take a big lead. Josh Michalko (Fairport, NY/Fairport), who threw the last 2 1/3, picked up his fourth win of the season.
Jeff Osler (Frankville, ON/St. Mary's) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to pace Monroe. Matt McGovern (Ottawa, ON/Gloucester) added two hits, including a solo home run.
Cory Brownsten (Lockport, NY/Lockport) finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Kaleb Cunningham (Canton, NY/Stockton) added two hits and a run batted in.
In the nightcap, Tim Terhaar (Webster, NY/Aquinas) went six strong innings to get the win. The freshman allowed no runs on three hits while striking out one. Kevin Prue (Windham, CT/Windham) came out to pitch the seventh for the save.
The Tribunes scored one run each in the second, third, and fourth innings. The first run came across on an error, while the second and third runs scored on RBI groundouts from McGovern and Dan Kaplan (Rochester, NY/Penfield).
