MCC nine sweeps Erie
ROCHESTER - The MCC baseball team picked up a pair of Western New York Athletic Conference victories Saturday, defeating Erie CC 3-2 and 11-2 to sweep a doubleheader.
The Tribunes are 5-1 in conference play this season. They hold a one-game lead over Niagara CCC in the standings.
Jason Beaumont got the victory in the opener, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just three hits.
The game was tied at two in the bottom of the fifth when Brandon Philp came through with an RBI single to put MCC ahead for good.
In the nightcap, The Tribunes scored five in the third and five more in the fifth to win going away. Grant Nadeau got the win in relief to improve to 2-0.
Luis Diaz and Sean Urckfitz each had two-run doubles during the third inning. Taylor Harrington's two-run double highlighted the big fifth inning.
Keith Geil finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in game two for Monroe. Chase Grissom added two hits, a run and an RBI.
