MCC wins on Gray's walk-off
ROCHESTER, MN- Lene'e Gray (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) singled in the game-winning run with one out in the bottom of the 11th to lift MCC to a 3-2 victory over top-ranked Rochester Community and Technical College in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III national tournament.
Kelly Maloney (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) led off the 11th with a base hit and moved to second on a sacrifice by Jordan Goode (Rochester, NY/Nazareth). Alyssa Devaney (Victor, NY/Victor) followed with a single, and Gray's infield hit plated Maloney with the winner.
Lindsey Grace (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) got the win for Monroe, going all 11 innings and striking out 11. The sophomore allowed two runs on three hits in the first inning before shutting RCTC down the rest of the way.
MCC tied the game at two with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. Stephanie Wagar (Greece, NY/Greece Arcadia) had an RBI double and later scored on a single by Liz Dennis (Canastota, NY/Canastota).
Gray and Devaney each had two hits for Monroe (37-9).
