Belin named Player of the Year
ROCHESTER - MCC sophomore forward Jeron Belin (Meriden, CT/Maloney) was named the 2009 Region III, Division II Player of the Year.
Belin averages 14.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Tribunes, who are 27-5 after winning the Region III tournament over the weekend. He scored 15.3 per game in Western New York Athletic Conference play.
Head coach Jerry Burns was named the Region III Coach of the Year. It's the seventh time he has earned that honor.
Kareem Brown (New London, CT/New London) was also named to the first team. Mark Lake Jr. (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) made the second team, while Tim Cokley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/South Plantation) was named to the third team.
Raheem Singleton (Boston, MA/Laurinburg Prep) earned honorable mention honors.
