MCC pulls away from Olean
OLEAN - Third-ranked MCC overcame a halftime deficit and went on to defeat Jamestown-Olean 92-77 Saturday in a WNYAC men's basketball contest.
The Tribunes (17-1 overall, 4-1 WNYAC) trailed 43-38 at the half before exploding for 54 points over the final 20 minutes. Solid free throw shooting down the stretch helped put it away, as Monroe went 18-for-20 from the line in the second half.
Raheem Singleton (Boston, MA/Madison Park) paced MCC with 31 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds. Shyrone Carter (Newark, NJ/Weequahic) added 23 points.
Antonio Williams (Poughkeepsie, NY/Poughkeepsie) and Dashawn Eagle (Newark, NJ/Weequahic) each put up double-doubles for Monroe.
Williams had 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Eagle chipped in with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
The Tribunes finished 26-for-31 from the free throw line on the game. MCC hosts regional rival Genesee CC Tuesday evening. The women's game is at 6 p.m., with the men to follow.
