MCC men's hoops splits two games
NEW YORK - The MCC men's basketball team split two games at the Mustang Invitational, losing to CC Rhode Island 77-62 Saturday before rebounding for a 73-72 win over Frederick CC Sunday.
The Tribunes are 6-4 on the season.
Mike Wilson's (Philadelphia, PA/Rise Prep) layup with 1:30 gave Monroe a 73-70 lead against Frederick. MCC then held on down the stretch to get the win.
Eddie Callender (Philadelphia, PA/Lankenau) finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Marcus Feagin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) added 17 points and 16 rebounds for Monroe.
Algeron Torrance (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) chipped in with 15 points and nine boards.
MCC was victimized by poor shooting in the tournament opener against Rhode Island. The Tribunes converted just 17-of-65 shots in the loss.
Andre Armstrong (Queens, NY/Notre Dame Prep) finished with 20 points, and Feagin and Torrance added 10 apiece.
