Monroe gets key conference win

NORTH EAST, Penn. - Algeron Torrance (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) had 18 points and nine rebounds and the MCC men's basketball team earned a pivotal WNYAC victory Tuesday, 77-66 over Mercyhurst North East.

Torrance finished 6-for-11 from the field and led four players in double figures.  MCC is now 5-3 in conference play and 14-10 overall.

Eddie Callender (Philadelphia, PA/Lankenau) came off the bench with 14 points and five rebounds for Monroe, which held the Saints to 30 percent shooting (22-for-73) on the night.

Kenny Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Abington Friends) and Andre Armstrong (Queens, NY/Notre Dame Prep) each chipped in with 11 points for the Tribunes.
