Tribune rally falls short
ROCHESTER - The MCC men's lacrosse team put together an inspired effort in the driving rain Saturday, but a late comeback attempt came up short as Herkimer CCC prevailed by a score of 13-9.
The Tribunes trailed 5-1 entering the third quarter before outscoring the Generals 6-2 to tie the game at 7 entering the fourth.
Herkimer came out with three quick goals to make it 10-7, but MCC's Nate Delone (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) scored twice in a span of 1:05 to make it 10-9.
HCCC responded again, however, scoring three unanswered to pull away.
Lantz Carter (Baltimore, MD/Northwestern) had two goals and two assists for the Tribunes (3-4). Swan Skidders (Akwesasne Mohawk Reserve/Salmon Run) added two goals and one assist and Mark Dwyer (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Nantucket) also scored twice.
Jason Houtenbrink (Victor, NY/Victor) scored the other MCC goal. Marc Groth (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) made 14 saves in goal.
