Men's lacrosse opens season with victory
ROCHESTER - The MCC men's lacrosse team put together a balanced attack and used a big opening half to rout Cayuga CC 29-8 in the Tribunes' season opener on DiMarco Field Thursday.
Fifteen different players scored for Monroe, which led 10-2 after one quarter and 19-4 at halftime.
Mike Barilla (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) had four goals and two assists to lead the way in his first game as a Tribune. Dan Hinderland (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) also had four goals.
Mark Dwyer (Nantucket, MA/Nantucket) and Kevin McMaster (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) chipped in with three goals apiece, while Lantz Carter (Baltimore, MD/Northwestern) had two goals and four assists.
Kurt Detwiler (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas), Brent Rickan (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North), and Jeff Konko (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) had two goals each.
Matt McShea (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) made nine saves in goal for MCC. Ryan Konko (Spencerport, NY/spencerport) stopped two shots.
