Tribunes win fourth in a row
ROCHESTER - The MCC men's lacrosse team picked up a key Region III victory Tuesday evening, defeating Alfred State 12-10.
The win was the fourth in a row for the Tribunes, who improved to 7-4 on the season.
Monroe raced to a 4-0 lead in the first, with three goals coming from Nick Mooney (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder). The Tribunes led 8-4 at the half before the Pioneers slowly hipped away at the lead.
Alfred closed to within 10-9 with 3:44 left in the game, but MCC's Nate Delone (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) scored twice in the last two minutes to seal the victory.
Matt McShea (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) had his second consecutive strong start in goal, stopping 18 shots. Delone and Mooney each finished with four goals, while Joe Matison (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) added two.
Lantz Carter (Baltimore, MD/Northwestern) and Mark Dwyer (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Nantucket) scored one goal apiece for MCC.
