Tribunes split weekend games
ROCHESTER - The MCC men's lacrosse team split a pair of games this weekend, defeating Dean College 20-3 on Saturday before falling 14-13 to Hudson Valley CC on Sunday.
MCC (3-3) went back and forth with HVCC, taking a 13-12 lead on a goal by Nate Delone (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) with 6:19 remaining. But the Vikings responded with two goals, including the game-winner with 2:47 left in the game.
Nick Mooney (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) led the attack with three goals and one assist. Delone, Tyler Kleehammer (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit), and Swan Skidders (Akwesasne Mohawk Reserve/Salmon River) added two goals apiece.
Marc Groth (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) made 12 saves in goal.
Against Dean, as MCC jumped out to a 9-0 lead after one quarter and was up 14-1 at halftime. Skidders finished with five goals and Mooney added four goals and two assists.
Jason Houtenbrink (Victor, NY/Victor) had two goals and picked up 10 groundballs. Lantz Carter (Baltimore, MD/Northwestern) had two goals and five assists, while Mark Dwyer (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Nantucket) and Jesse Corriveau (Cornwall, ON/Cornwall) also had a pair of goals.
