Tribunes tie, win on opening weekend
BROCKTON, MA - The MCC men's soccer team kicked off the season on the road over the weekend, tying the American International College JVs 2-2 Friday and defeating Massasoit CC 2-0 Saturday.
The Tribunes are 1-0-1 on the season. MCC will play its first home game this Wednesday at 4 p.m. against Genesee CC.
Monroe trailed 1-0 in the 53rd minute against AIC before Moses Watkis (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica/South Kent) scored to tie the game.
The Tribunes then took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Jeremy Loncao (Brighton, NY/Brighton) before AIC came back to tie it. Andy Vanderhoof (Chili, NY/Gates Chili) added an assist for Monroe.
Watkis came through again in the Massasoit game, scoring twice to lead the Tribunes to the victory. Loncao added an assist and Anthony Pipitone (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili) earned the shutout in goal.
