MCC 17, Central Lakes 1
ROCHESTER, MN - The MCC softball team crept one game closer to a national title repeat, defeating Central Lakes (Minn.) 17-1 Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the winner's bracket at the NJCAA Division III national tournament.
Jackie Dean (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) pitched four innings to earn the win on the mound, her third straight at the tournament. Emily Burgess (Lyndonville, NY/Lyndonville) pitched the fifth.
Sam Rollins (Hornell, NY/Hornell) had three hits and three RBIs for the Tribunes (51-2). Sylina Santell (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) kept up her hot hitting with four hits and three runs batted in, while Kira Wagar (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) went 4-for-4 with two RBIs. MCC had 22 hits.
MCC will take on Central Lakes again in the championship game, 2 p.m. on Saturday.
